Kishwaukee Valley Heritage Society Index Project

Our newly computerized and indexed archive information includes obituaries, family histories, photos, schools, businesses, churches, organizations, sports, celebrations and property abstracts.  This is a partial listing of our accessions which are continually being up-dated. 

Some interesting items included in our archives are the following:
The Oldest horse drawn hearse in DeKalb County
1923 Overland Touring Car
Model railroad trains
Depot built in 1882 and Caboose (Crummy) from 1950
An old printing press
Genoa Merchants baseball team scrapbook and pictures
A large collection of telephones made in Genoa including:
Wall telephones dating from 1892-1913
An Army field telephone and field switchboard from WWII
The first dial telephone
The prototype Strowger switch which began the automation of the telephone system
A large collection of pictures of telephones, switchboards and manufactured parts.

 

The Society has developed Pioneer Family Files for use by researchers.
