(I believe this was from the DeKalb paper although there is nothing to indicate that and the date is missing.  She died on 12 June 1941.  She was my sister.)
 
Avis Baker DeKalb Dies Last Evening
 
    Ill for the past three years, periods of which were spent in the hospital, Miss Avis Irene Baker, age 20, died at 11:35 o'clock last night at the St. Mary's hospital.  Miss Baker last entered the hospital for treatment two weeks ago.
    Avis Irene Baker was born in Saranac, Mich., June 11, 1921, the daughter of Mr. and Mr. G. R. Baker, now residents of this city living at 626 North Fourth Street.  The family moved to DeKalb eleven years ago, Miss Baker attending the schools of DeKalb.  She graduated from the DeKalb Township High School with the class of 1939.
    Miss Baker is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.R. Baker, three brothers, Jack and Donald of this city and Joe, at the present in the army at Camp Forrest, Tenn., and three sisters, Mrs. Jean DeWayne of Belvidere and Betty and Sharon living at home.  She was a member of the Baptist church.
    Funeral services will be held on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the Nelson & Ronan Mortuary, the Rev. Lanes to conduct the service.  Interment will be in the Fairview cemetery.
