William H. Lawrence
HUSLIA, Alaska-William H. Lawrence, 71 of Huslia, Alaska, formerly of the
Sycamore-DeKalb area, died June 5, 1973, in Wheaton, Ill., at the home of his
nephew. Mr. Lawrence was born Aug. 19, 1901, in Burlington Ill., the son of
Thomas and Elizabeth Church Lawrence. While living here he was employed by
Anaconda Wire and Cable Company, also Essex Wire.
Mr. Lawrence moved to Alaska about 15 years ago where he owned and operated the
Lawrence Trading Post at Huslia.
He is survived by a son, Walter of Sycamore; three daughters, Mrs. Frances Goad,
Kingston; Mrs. Marjorie Lovellette, DeKalb; and Mrs. Ruby Holler, Sycamore; two
stepsons in Alaska; two brothers, Clarence, DeKalb and Robert of Holiday Fla;
four sisters, Mrs. Florence Williams, Glen Ellyn; Mrs. Etta Beck, Sycamore; Mrs.
Ethel Bergeron, California and Mrs. Marie Loraas, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren
and 10 great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in
death by two sons, a daughter, two grandchildren, three brothers and two
sisters.
The funeral service is 1:30 p.m. June 8, at the Quiram Funeral Home in
Sycamore. The Rev. Harold M. Kelley will officiate. Burial will take place
later in Huslia, Alaska. Visitation at the funeral home is from 3 to 5 and 7 to
9 p.m. today.
