SAMUEL C. MABEL

 

Samuel C. Mabel, 86, of Sycamore, Ill., died Sunday, October 22, 2000, at his home.

Born August 9, 1914, in Prophetstown, he was the son of Isaac and Sarah (Weinman) Mabel.  He graduated from Sycamore High School in 1932.  He was married to Mary Kathryn (Hart) Mabel for 63 years.  Sam was in sales most of his life.  He and Mary retired to Florida in 1968 and they returned to Sycamore in 1992 to be close to their family.

He is survived by three children, Jacqueline Vancil of Sycamore, Bill Mabel of Sycamore and Charles (Billie Marie) of Chattsworth, Ga.; 10 grandchildren, Mark (Laura) Vancil of Highland Park, Jane Haka (fiance John Tallitsch), Susan Vancil of Libertyville, Kristina Clark of Florida, Michael Mabel of Florida, Tawnia Mabel, Chad Mabel and Molly Hunt of Chattsworth, and Sam Mabel and Charlie Mabel of Las Vegas, Nev.; and six great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Samantha Vancil of Highland Park, Jacob, Jessica and Jordan Haka of Sycamore and Ashely Clark of Florida. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

A celebration of life service will be held for the family at the family home Friday, Oct. 27, with pastor Kate Feeney-Bastian, DeKalb County Hospice chaplain, officiating.  There will be no visitation.
