MRS. BECKMAN IS SUMMONED LAST EVENING
Mrs. Gustaf Beckman, well known resident of DeKalb, living at 610 North
Ninth street, passed away last evening about 8:30 o'clock. Her health
had not been of the best for some time, advancing age and informants
gradually weakened her constitution until death came.
Beata Bäckstrom was born in Karlskoga,Sweden on January 19,1849 and came
to America in 1888. she has been a resident of the DeKalb community the
major share of the time she has lived in this country and joined the
church on August 3,1890, being most active in manendevors until her death
prevented her continuance.
Her husband Gustaf passed away on Febuary13,1920. The passing of Mrs.
Beckman is mourned by six children, Oscar Hannah and Adolph, living at
home, Mrs. Bertha Eckburg, Mrs. Burr Cone and Ruben all residents of
DeKalb and six grandchildren. A daughter Gerda passed away in 1933.
Mrs. Beckman had a wide circle of friends throughout the city, made
through her church activities and her splendid qualities of a true
neighbor. Her brother, Rev Ludwig Bäckstrom, was one of the pioneer
pastors of the Agustina Synod, spending the greater portion of his time
and work in the Iowa territory.
Funeral services are to be held from the home at 2:30 o-clock on
Thursday afternoon with the Rev E.W. Magnuson in charge. Burial is to be
in Fairview cemetery
