OBITUARY:  Sycamore, Illinois.  Date:24 November 1833

Edward DeWolf was taken very ill Monday night , and although medical aid was summoned at once, he died before it reach him of a heart attack.   He was born in 1816 in Saratoga County, New York.   While felling trees in Pennsylvania, 32 years ago, he suffered the loss of one of his legs.  He came to Genoa in 1865, leaving Beaver Center, PA. For about 12 years Edward was a letter carrier for the Post Office, carrying the Marengo and Sycamore mail.  He was 67 years of age and leaves his wife, Sarah Reed DeWolf, and three sons, George, Ransom, and Edward; and  two daughters, Alice and Emma,  and a multitude of friends to mourn his sudden departure.  Edward was buried at the Genoa Cemetery on Wednesday afternoon.  Memorial services being held at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Sycamore.  Stone reads:  “Oh how we miss thee at home.”
