Clarence Elliott, 76, Was Found Dead In Bed on Saturday
Clarence Elliott, aged 76, one of the earliest surviving residents of DeKalb county, was found dead in bed at his home on his farm on the State road, three miles east of Sycamore, on Saturday morning, June 12, by J.G. Burke, who conducts the farm. He was born on that farm and had always resided there.
At a coroner's inquest that morning it was found that he had died of cerebral hemorrhage. He had not been in good health for a long time. Clarence Elliott was one of the three children of James M. and Dilla (Perry) Elliott, who were among a number of early settlers who came from Ohio and gave the name Ohio Grove in Cortland township. The son Clarence was born in that township January 4, 1850. He was married to Louisa Crytal in 1871. She died four years ago. To them were born four children. One died in infancy, and there are surviving: Harry of Halcyol, Calif.; Emmett of Clifford, N.D., and Mrs. Clinton McCloud of Plato Twp., Kane county, Ill. There are also surviving eight grandchildren.
Mr. Elliott was an honorable man, esteemed by all. The funeral services were held this Tuesday afternoon at the Ohio Grove church, Rev. W.H. Tope, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating, and
the interment was in the family lot in Ohio Grove cemetery.
