Wm. Lawrence
An old soldier’s funeral was that of Wm Lawrence held at his late home at the
corner of Grove and Eight streets at 10 o’clock this morning and it was very
largely attended. The deceased was well known in DeKalb and vicinity
where he has lived for years. He took a part in the war of the rebellion
and in
recognition of the services for his country, the G A R and W R C attended the
funeral, the former organization having charge of the services at the
grave.
Mr. Lawrence died March 12, 1900 as the result of an attack
of pneumonia. He leaves a wife and four children all of whom were at the
funeral today, one son Wm. Lawrence and wife coming from Dixon and the others
all living in this vicinity. Rev. A. T. Horn preached the sermon and the
interment was in Oakwood Cemetery.
