ESMOND IS BURIED
Death Has Taken A Long Resident
Of Esmond, Mrs. W. McKenzie,
Who Died Saturday And
Final Rites Were
Held Today.
The many friends of Sarah Etta Shurtleff, McKenzie were maddened to hear of her sudden death at her home in Esmond Saturday evening at 9:oo o’clock. She had been sitting with her husband listening to the radio, when she slipped quietly from this life. She was 74 years of age.
Sara Etta Shurtleff was born on November 5, 1856, the daughter of Willard and Isabel Joe Shurleff of Genoa township, and she was married to William G. McKenzie on August 12, 1896; the couple moving to Esmond, where they had resided together ever since.
Will Be Remembered
Mrs. McKenzie will be well remembered by her multitude of friends in this area for her friendly congenial nature, the consideration and help she gave others and love she had for her family and home.
Surviving her are: her husband William g. McKenzie; three children, Marion of Evanston, Adelaide Alcock of Lindenwood, and Elmer of Pearl city; three grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Charles Rykert of Columbia, South Carolina, and one brother, Arthur Shurtleff of Chicago.
Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2:00 at the home and at 2:30 at the Esmond church, the Rev. F.M. Anderson officiating. Burial was in the Esmond cemetery.
