POSSON'S SKULL CRUSHED

Mystery surrounds the death of Martin Luther Posson Jr., a former well known citizen of Pierce township, whose body was brought from New York to Hinckley for interment about two weeks ago. An investigation will be made to determine whether a crime has been committed. Mark Win Potter, a well known attorney of New York City, was in Hinckley on Oct 8, shortly after the remains were interred, and promised to  make a close investigation upon return to New York City.

Attorney Mark Win Potter, who will make the investigation, was born in Kaneville and became a resident of Hinckley when a child. He soon after removed to New York. He is now principally employed as a corporation counsel and is recognized as a leading member of the New York Bar. Martin Luther Posson, whose mysterious death has caused so much anxiety was a son of a pioneer of Pierce township with the same name, who was born in Knox, Albany, New York and came here in 1860. He was a member of the school board and town treasurer for many years. He left four children, Wallace S, Myron J., Leah M. and Martin Luther jr. His first wife died in 1869. Mr.Posson Sr. married Dec 1870 to Phebe Ann Hopkins daughter of Cyrus Hopkins and sister of former United States Senator Hopkins. She was the mother of Chester G.Posson, John Hopkins Posson and Effie June Posson.
