Funeral Will Be Held On Sunday

Julius Pratt passed from this life on Thursday afternoon at his home on his

farm six miles east of Sycamore in Virgil township where he had resided

continuously for 49 years.  He had been in poor health for a year or two,

but his death was caused by a recent attack of pneumonia.

The funeral services will be held at the South Burlington church at 2

o'clock p. m. on Sunday, May 14, Rev. G. M. Ashworth, pastor of the

Universalist church, officiating, and the remains will be interred in the

family lot in South Burlington cemetery.

Julius Pratt was a son of Obidiah and Eliza (Thurston) Pratt, natives of

New York State, and was born in Herkimer county, that state, on Feb. 25,

1837.  Nearly 50 years ago he came to Illinois and settled on the farm on

which he died, and there he passed the remainder of his years.

On May 27, 1901, Mr. Pratt was greatly bereaved by the death of his

faithful wife, his devoted companion of many years, and the same year by

the death of their son who passed away on July 14, 1901.

There are left to mourn the death of a good father, the son William Pratt,

who resides on the farm, and the daughter Mrs. James Elliott who resides

with her husband in Sycamore.

Mr. Pratt was universally respected.   He was a good citizen and neighbor,

exemplary husband and devoted father.
