Martin Wyke, a resident of Sycamore, Illinois since 1871 died, last night

at the home of his daughter Mrs. Elizabeth Murray, on Ottawa Street, with

whom he had made his home for many years.  The cause of his death was due

to general debility occasioned by old age.   He had been quite feeble for

several years.  The deceased was born in Baden, Germany April 3, 1817 and

was married to Mary Syschwell twenty eight years later, two years after his

marriage they came to America, first settling in Chicago where they remain

until 1858.  From there they came to this county, locating at Pierce and

later in Mayfield.  He is survived by his wife and four children, Latter

being Kate, William, Emma and Elizabeth, a son Augustus died January 22,

1879 at the age of 21 years. Mr. Wyke was a member of M.E. Church for many

years. The funeral services will be held at the home, Monday at 11 o'clock

conducted by Rev. Moore.  The body will be taken to Brush Point Cemetery

for burial in Mayfield township.
